Three reasons a wedge is worth the desk space

You can see the screen without leaning
A flat machine on a desk points its display at your chest. Tilting it puts the screen normal to your eyeline from a seated position, which is the difference between glancing at a parameter and stopping to read it.
Your wrist stops bending backwards
Playing pads on a flat desk holds the wrist in extension for the length of a session. Raising the front edge and angling the deck lets the hand sit closer to neutral, the way a sloped keyboard does.
The cables stop fighting the desk
Lifting the rear off the surface gives every rear connector a straight run instead of a sharp bend at the socket, and puts air under a machine that is otherwise sitting in its own heat.

Measurements and load path

Drawn from Akai's published 194 × 236 × 50 mm envelope. The four feet are read from Thomann's underside photograph at about ±73 mm and 22 / 213 mm from the front edge, 18–21 mm across, with roughly 2 mm of reading error. The rear connector layout is checked against Thomann's rear photograph.

Where the weight lands

The 173 mm panel width puts the cushioned rail centres at ±73.5 mm — directly under the Sample's four feet, which read at ±73 mm. All four feet land on pad, with between 0.4 and 2.6 mm of pad beyond each rim at the limit of the photo reading.

What the stand does not cover

The rear panel is clear of the stand. Front stops are 16 mm, and the microSD slot on the left side is not covered.

Assembly

  1. 1Lay the two side panels inside-face up. They are handed — the joint mortises face each other.
  2. 2Drop an M4 nut into the captive slot beside each of the four joints. The slot holds it; you never need to hold a nut with pliers.
  3. 3Slide the four tongues of the cross-frame into the panel mortises. 14 mm of engagement, 0.25 mm clearance a side — it should push home by hand.
  4. 4Fit a washer and an M4 × 35 screw into each recess and tighten evenly. The heads sit 5 mm below the panel face.
  5. 5Lay a rail strip along the top of each rail, starting 10 mm back from the front stop.
  6. 6Stick a stop bumper to the inside face of each front stop.
  7. 7Turn the stand over, apply a desk grip strip to the underside of each panel, and set it down.

Stands ship flat-packed with the hardware and cushions in the same box. Assembly takes about five minutes and needs one hex key.

You have fourteen days from delivery to change your mind, for any reason, and we pay return postage if the stand does not fit your machine. That promise is the risk reversal for a product whose only real objection is fit — and it is the reason the list above is honest.

Common questions

Is there any metal to cut or drill?
No. The earlier revision used steel rods; this one does not. Everything structural is printed and it goes together with four standard M4 screws.
Can I still reach the microSD slot?
Yes. It is on the left side of the unit and the side panel does not come up past it.
