Three reasons a wedge is worth the desk space
- You can see the screen without leaning
- A flat machine on a desk points its display at your chest. Tilting it puts the screen normal to your eyeline from a seated position, which is the difference between glancing at a parameter and stopping to read it.
- Your wrist stops bending backwards
- Playing pads on a flat desk holds the wrist in extension for the length of a session. Raising the front edge and angling the deck lets the hand sit closer to neutral, the way a sloped keyboard does.
- The cables stop fighting the desk
- Lifting the rear off the surface gives every rear connector a straight run instead of a sharp bend at the socket, and puts air under a machine that is otherwise sitting in its own heat.
Measurements and load path
Drawn at 327 × 171 × 37 mm, 0.83 kg. Akai publishes 305 mm wide; we treat that as an error. Every straight-on photograph of the Studio has a plan aspect of 1.91–1.92, not the published 1.78, and the full-size MPC pad on Akai's orthographic press image measures 30.1 mm — matching the pad measured on an MPC Live II — only at a 327 mm width. The feet, ports and controls are read from Thomann's photographs at 2.36 px/mm.

Where the weight lands
The Studio has six feet in two rows of three, about 17 mm across, at x = ±132 and 0 mm. The one-piece cross-frame caps the stand at 274 mm outside width, so the rails sit at ±124 mm — 8 mm inboard of the outer feet. The cushion was widened from 24 to 26 mm to cover the full panel top: 13.4 mm of each 17 mm outer foot bears on pad, and the foot centre stays 5 mm inboard of the panel's outer face, so the load line falls over the panel. The two centre feet hang free above the cross-frame.
What the stand does not cover
Nothing on the stand reaches the rear panel. The USB-B socket and both 3.5 mm MIDI jacks stay clear with the unit tilted. The Studio has no front connectors, which is why the front stops are 12 mm rather than the family's 13 mm maximum.

Assembly
- 1Lay the two side panels inside-face up. They are handed — the joint mortises face each other.
- 2Drop an M4 nut into the captive slot beside each of the four joints. The slot holds it; you never need to hold a nut with pliers.
- 3Slide the four tongues of the cross-frame into the panel mortises. 14 mm of engagement, 0.25 mm clearance a side — it should push home by hand.
- 4Fit a washer and an M4 × 35 screw into each recess and tighten evenly. The heads sit 5 mm below the panel face.
- 5Lay a rail cushion along the top of each rail, starting 4 mm back from the front stop. It should cover the panel edge to edge.
- 6Stick a stop bumper to the inside face of each front stop.
- 7Turn the stand over, apply a desk grip strip to the underside of each panel, and set it down.

Width is photo-derived, ±3 mm. Depth (171 mm) and height (37 mm) are Akai's published figures and are photo-consistent.
Shipping and returns
Stands ship flat-packed with the hardware and cushions in the same box. Assembly takes about five minutes and needs one hex key.
You have fourteen days from delivery to change your mind, for any reason, and we pay return postage if the stand does not fit your machine. That promise is the risk reversal for a product whose only real objection is fit — and it is the reason the list above is honest.
Common questions
- Akai says 305 mm wide. Your page says 327. Which is it?
- We think Akai's line is wrong, and we say so openly rather than quietly designing to a figure we do not believe. The evidence is above: photographic plan aspect and a pad-size match against a device we have measured. If we are wrong the stand is 22 mm too wide, which costs you nothing — the unit still lands on both rails. If Akai were right and we had built to 305, it would be 22 mm too narrow, which does cost you something.
- Do the middle feet touch anything?
- No. The centre pair hangs free over the cross-frame. Only the four outer feet bear.
